The closest place to visit is Burton Agnes Hall, just 1 mile away from Thornholme. This magnificent Elizabethan house is filled with treasures collected over four centuries. The award-winning gardens offer something for everyone, and the Courtyard Cafe serves food and drink from local producers.

Bridlington is just 5 miles away with plenty to see and do, and boasts a busy working harbour. The town is flanked by two sandy beaches that are both dog-friendly, although there are some restrictions nearer the town from May to October.
Bridlington is the lobster capital of Europe, we recommend a visit to Arnolds to treat yourself to some freshly caught lobster.

Sewerby Hall is a firm favourite for all the family with 50 acres of parkland, a lively zoo, woodland trails, tours of the historic house, and beautiful landscaped gardens. There is also a Park Run at Sewerby every Saturday.

For nature lovers RSPB Bempton is only a short drive away, with the only mainland nesting spot in the UK for gannets. Between April and September you are likely to see Puffins at Bempton.

Flamborough is situated just north of Bridlington and has a working lighthouse to protect the coastline. Tours of the lighthouse can be booked. Keep an eye out for the pods of dolphins and porpoises in the bay, and seals on the beaches.

Local gastro pub in a delightful Yorkshire Wolds village serving food & real ales, with a large beer garden.

Cow Shed Tea Shop, Fraisthorpe.
With views over the beach and bay, great for a takeaway whilst visiting the beach.

The Pipe and Glass, South Dalton near Beverley.
This destination pub offers a relaxed approach to Michelin star eating – the same sensational menu is available in the bar as the restaurant but please remember to book.

The Ship Inn, Sewerby.
A warm welcome awaits you at this busy pub serving a selection of food and drink throughout the day, including breakfast. The daily changing seafood specials and wood-fired pizzas are excellent. With a beer garden overlooking the sea. Seriously dog-friendly with a canine treat menu.

Fish & Chips @149, Bridlington.
Yorkshire serves up some of the best fish & chips in the UK. This is certainly one place to get a great take-out to bring back to the cottage.
